Anna University of Technology Tirunelveli was established on 17th September 2007 by a Tamilnadu Government Act No.28 of 2007. Anna University of Technology Tirunelveli is bestowed with powers to grant affiliations to engineering colleges situated within the 4 districts - Virudhunagar, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi and Kanyakumari. Anna University of Technology Tirunelveli persistently endeavours for excellence in education, research and societal service through highly committed and skilled teachers who are also adept researchers in various emerging and cutting edge technologies.

Anna University of Technology Tirunelveli has also established two University Colleges of Engineering, at Thoothukudi and Nagercoil during the academic year 2009-10. As on date, the total number of affiliated colleges is 65.

Anna University of Technology Tirunelveli is temporarily functioning at Government college of Engineering Campus and the University Departments in a rented building. The construction of Anna University Administrative building is under process in the land adjacent to Government College of Engineering campus at an estimated cost of Rs.7.44 crores. University V.O.Chidambaranar College of Engineering, Thoothukudi campus encompasses 25 acres of land and University College of Engineering, Nagercoil Campus 25 acres of land. All the three campuses accommodate 81 teaching faculty members, 86 non–teaching staff members and 900 students.

Placement

It offers best opportunities to their students by providing all the facilities related to the placement activity for helping the students in their furure placement activity. Approximately 278 students got job in their dream companies in both IT and Core sector at higher packages. The companies which comes for recruitment in Anna University usually looks for talent in software, hardware and core Engineering areas. Over the last few year there came around 150 major companies like- Congnizant, TCS, HCL, Wipro etc for the recruitment.
