Official Prelims 2018 notification is not yet published, as per the UPSC Examination calendar, Civil Services Preliminary Exam 2018 (objective) will be conducted on June 03, 2018. The Main Exam (written) 2018 will start from October 01, 2018.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational qualification:

Candidate must hold graduation degree from a recognised University.

Age Limit:

A Candidate must attain a age of 21 years and should not exceed by 32 years (General category candidates).

  • Relexation of 5 years is allowed for the SC Candidates.
  • Relexation 3 years is allowed for the OBC Candiates.

Number of vacancies = 780

Number of Attempts:

General category canditaes- 6 attempts

OBC category candidates- 9 attempts

SC/ST candidates- Unlimitied attemts till 37 years of age

The Civil Service Examination is going to be conducted in two stages as mentioned below:

  • Civil Service Preliminary Examination( Objective-type Questions) in order to select Candidate for Main Examination
  • Civil Service Main Examination (Written & Interview) in order to select Candidate for various services.

Aspirants can also choose literature of any of the 22 language list in 8th schedule and English as optional paper even if you have not studied the same in college level.Under the new pattern the marks obtained in English will not be counted for preparing final merit list for service selection of IAS,IPS,IFS,IRS etc

 Civil Service Preliminary Examination comprise two papers both will be of Objective-type.To practice online for Civil Services Examination, you can follow itest

 CSAT consists of two objective type papers. Each paper will carry 200 marks and will be of 2 hours duration. Paper 1 will cover general knowledge and general awareness topics. Paper 2 will have questions from topics such as numerical ability, data interpretation, logical reasoning, communication ability etc. Paper-I :

  1. Current Events.                         
  2. History of India and International Movement.
  3. Indian and World Geography.
  4. Indian Polity and Governance.
  5. Econimic and Social Development.
  6. General Science & Issues.

Duration: 2 Hours

Marks: 200

Paper-II

  1. Comprehension.
  2. Logical Reasoning & analytical reasoning.
  3. Decision-Making & problem solving.
  4. General Mental ability.
  5. Basics Numeracy.
  6. English LanguageComprehension skills.

Duration: 2 Hours

NOTE:

  • Applications are invited for the Preliminary Examination Only.
  • The two qualifying papers of 300 marks each in any Modern Indian Language and in English as in previous years will be restored.
  • Candidates qualify Preliminary Exam are allowed to sit in the Main Exam which will be held in the month of December.
