Education

  • Master's degree in Geology / Applied Geology or Marine Geology from a recognized university or a Diploma of Associateship in Applied Geology of Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad.
  • Master's degree in Mineral Exploration from a recognized university (for posts in Geological Survey of India)
  •  Master's degree in Hydrogeology from a recognized university (for posts in Central Ground Water Board).

 Age Criteria

Age norms for Geologist and Geophysicist and Chemist (Group ‘A’) in the Geological Survey of India, Ministry of Mines: Candidates’ date of birth should fall not before than 2nd January 1986 and not after than 1st January, 1997.

Age norms for For Jr. Hydrogeologist (Scientist B) (Group A) in Central Ground water Board, Ministry of Water Resources: Candidates’ date of birth should fall not before than 2nd January 1983 and not after than 1st January, 1997.

  • For Ex-servicemen category candidates: 5 Years;
  • For Scheduled caste/Scheduled tribal: 5 years;
  • For OBC: 3 years;
  • For Deaf-mute, Blind and Orthopaedically disabled category applicants: 10 years;

Nationality

  • A candidate must be either a Citizen of India or a subject of Nepal or a subject of Bhutan or a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India.
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka or East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or from Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for exam.

 There are four papers in each category. General English is common for all categories. The examination in all the subjects is of conventional type.

  1. Candidates competing for posts under both the categories I and II have to appear in all the five subjects mentioned above.
  2. Candidates competing for posts under Category I only need to appear in subjects at (A) to (D) above.
  3. Candidates competing for posts under Category II only will be required to appear in subject (A),(C) and (E) above.
  4. The Examination in all the subjects will be of descriptive (essay) type in English only expected up to the level of Science Undergraduate Degree.
  5. The papers on geological subjects will be approximately of the MSc degree standard of an Indian University and questions will generally be set to test the candidate's grasp of the fundamentals in each subject.

 

PART-II

  1. Interview for personality test-200 marks.
