The Regional Institute of Science & Technology (RIST) was established in 2009 by a charitable trust namely ERD FOUNDATION. It is one of the technical colleges in the northeastern region. The college as well as all the courses are recognized by the All India Council For Technical Education (A.I.C.T.E.). Regional Institute of Science & Technology was set up with an intention of providing an efficient system of education and to cater to the needs of technical manpower in the North-Eastern region of the country.

The college now offers four year under graduate courses in Six disciplines, viz. Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Information Technology , Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering.
