Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) was founded in 1960. It is among the 30 NITs of the country. The institute is spread in 215 acres of sprawling campus. Earlier it was known as Visvesvaraya Regional College of Engineering(VRCE). It got the status of NIT in 2007. In academic session 2011-12 around 95 companies visited the campus recruitinhg 443 students of UG and PG.
