In persuance with the policies of the Government of India to start Engineering colleges in emerging technologies in rural areas, the Kavikulguru Institute of Technology and Science (K.I.T.S) was established at Ramtek during the academic year 1985-86. The Institute is named after the great poet Kavikulguru Kalidas. Our beloved former Prime Minister Hon. Sri. P. V. Narsimha Rao, the then M.P. from the Ramtek Lok Sabha constituency was instrumental in setting up the Engineering College here. The gist of Lord Krishna's intensive teaching on self-Sraddhavan Labhate Jnanam forms the guiding spirit and motto of the Institute. K.I.T.S, Ramtek is affiliated to the R.T.M. Nagpur University and is being developed as per the norms of the All India Council of Technical Education (A.I.C.T.E), Government of India
