1.   INDIA’S FIRST UTERUS TRANSPLANTS SOON

·       Two medical centres in Pune and Bengaluru are working on it.

·       A uterus transplant is a very complex procedure which will enable women with absent or diseased uterus to get pregnant after uterus of donor is transplanted in her.

·       The first and second transplant in the world was carried out in Saudi Arabia (2002) and Turkey (2001) respectively. But both failed.

·       One in every 4,000 women in India is born without a uterus.

2.   NEPAL ALSO JOINED OBOR

·       Nepal also signed the One Belt One Road framework agreement.

·       Now, India is the only country in South Asia which is not involved in China’s economic strategy.

·       By joining OBOR, collaboration in construction of cross-border railways & highways, transmission grinds, parks, airports etc. will be done.

·       The fund for all these works will be provided by the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) & Silk Road Fund.

3.   IT LAUNCHES E-FACILITY TO LINK AADHAAR WITH PAN

·       Income tax department launched a new e-facility for easy linkage of aadhaar with Permanent Account Number.

·       The Finance Act,2017 made it mandatory for taxpayers quote Aadhaar for filing income tax return from July 1.

4.   COUNTRY’S BIGGEST PERFORMING ARTS CENTRE TO COME UP IN DELHI

·       Union Ministry of culture gave its nod to set up a National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) in Delhi.

·       This is done to provide a space for cultural activities & ensure performing arts gets a boost at national and international level.

·       The centre is set to have a huge auditorium with state-of-the-art facilities & technology.

·       It will be the biggest centre in the country after Mumbai’s Nariman Point.

5.   MOST POWERFUL ROCKET TO BE LAUNCHED BY ISRO

·       GSLV MARK-III is capable of transporting a heavier four-tonne communication satellite.

·       It will enable ISRO to launch Indian heavier communications spacecraft to geostationary orbit of 3,600 km.

·       Now, ISRO has to take help of foreign facilities for anything above 2.2 tonnes.
