India re-elected to Intl Maritime Organisation Council

 

India has been re-elected to the Council of the International Maritime Organisation under a category that represents nations with the largest interests in international seaborne trade

 

Indian High Commissioner to the UK Y K Sinha represented India at the assembly where India secured the second-highest number of votes (144) from member-countries, just after Germany's 146 and ahead of Australia's 143.

 

India has been one of the earliest members of the IMO, having ratified its convention and joined it as a member-state in the year 1959

 

India has been elected to the Council of the IMO ever since it started functioning, except for a two-year hiatus during 1983-1984

Microsoft offers Rs 1.39 crore /annum to IIT students




IIT students are having a wonderful time as Microsoft and Apple some of the giant companies have started hiring on their campus and students are being offered quite lucrative lumpsome salary package .

These offshore offers are being given with package above 1 crore hence the placements on IIT campus started on a good note.


Microsoft is offering IIT students offshore placements package worth  $215,000, which roughly converts to Rs 1.39 crore per annum.

These offers were made on IIT Roorkee,Bombay,Madras and Guwahati. Microsoft offered to three from Roorkee ,two offshore offers and eight domestic .

With Apple debuting on IIT campus this year students seemed to be more excited as they are been offered domestic ones worth 15lac/annum.

 

Compared to last year’s package offers this year day 1 has been quite impressive and promising for students .

 

 


‘Populism’ is Cambridge dictionary’s ‘word of the year’



The word “populism” has been announced as the Cambridge Dictionary 2017 Word of the Year, based on the criteria that the word should not only be the most searched-for words but is also reflected in spikes.


The dictionary defines populism as “political ideas and activities that are intended to get the support of ordinary people by giving them what they want”.


“What sets populism apart from all these other words is that it represents a both truly local and truly global, as populations and their issues of immigration and trade, resurgent nationalism, and economic discontent.”

 

 

GET READY FOR JEE MAINS 2018:As registration begins

 


Roll up your sleeves and gear up for Joint Entrance Examinations (JEE)  mains 2018 as the registration began from 1st Dec 2017.

Candidates willing to apply can do the same  from the official website (jeemain.nic.in).

Though the last date to submit forms is January 1,2018 that means just 30days. The eligibility, syllabus and all other information have already been released.

 

Another important factor is that Aadhar card has been made compulsory hence students appearing if applied and have not received the card will have to enter the card number at the time of filling up of form.

 

The process of application this time is only online with exam fees ranging from rs 1000 general category boys and rs 250 for reserved category of girls.

The offline exam will be on 8th april 2018 and online on 15th and 16th april 2018.
