1.       India will work closely with RCEP members for early conclusion

• India will work closely and constructively for early conclusions of the negotiations for a mega trade deal with Regional Comprehensive Economic forum (RCEP).

• RCEP is a mega trade pact between 16 member countries which aims to cover goods, services, investment, economic and technical cooperation, competition and intellectual property rights.

• This group comprises 10 ASEAN countries (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Laos and Vietnam) and their six Free Trade Agreement (FTA) Partners – India, China, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand.


2.       NIIF first investment platform with DP World

• National Investment and Infrastructure Fund made its first investment, partnering with DP world to create an investment platform for ports, terminals, transportation and logistics business in India.

• The Platform will invest $3 billion in port sector (sea ports, river ports and transportation), freight corridors, port-led special economic zones, inland container terminals and logistic infrastructure including cold storage.

• NIIF was set up in December 2015 which aims to attract investment from both domestic and foreign sources for the projects like smart cities, Dedicated Freight Corridors, High-speed railways etc, which require huge long term investment.


3.       63rd Jio Filmfare award 2018

• Best Film Award to ‘Hindi Medium’ and Best Film Critics Award to ‘Newton’.

• Best Actor (Male) to Irfan Khan for ‘Hindi medium’ and Best Actor (Female) to Vidya Balan for ‘Tumhari Sulu’.

• Best Actor (Male) award by Critics went to Rajkumar Rao for ‘Trapped’ and Best Actor (Female) award by Critics went to Zaira Wasim for ‘Secret Superstar’.


4.        Automated ocean pollution system of India

• India will have its own automated ocean pollution observation system from this year which will keep a tab on ocean pollution level.

• This system will become functional by April 2018 as clarified by the director of Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS).

• INCOIS is an autonomous body working under Earth Ministry.


5.       Nifty crosses 11000 mark for the first time

• Nifty is an index of National Stock Exchange (NSE) which represents weighted average of 50 Indian company stocks in 12 sectors.

• Nifty has achieved the historical 11000 level for the first time while the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex hit another record high of 35597.99.

• Uninterrupted foreign fund inflows amid strong corporate earnings and positive global leads drove these unique benchmark indices to fresh life time highs.
