 1.     National Cancer Institute is in Jhajjar

• National Cancer Institute (NCI) will have 26 operation theatres, 15 laboratories for principal investigators, a separate diagnostics block and an affordable quality tertiary cancer care centre.

• The institute will be a forefront in the activities affiliated to cancer care, treatment and prevention.

• It will evolve model cancer-control programmes and new therapies for the developing world.

• The institute will also collaborate with cancer institute in the UK, France and the USA and will work as a pioneer in the field of translational research.


2.     Fugitive Economic Offenders Bill, 2018

• The bill has provision to create a Special Court (Under Prevention of Money-laundering Act, 2002) to declare a person as a Fugitive Economic Offender.

• The bill aims to catch willful defaulters who tend to leave nation to escape the clutches of the law.

• The bill empowers law enforcement agencies to seize the assets of economic absconders till they submit to the jurisdiction of law in India.

• It will also help the banks and other financial institutions to achieve higher recovery from fugitive economic offenders.


 3.     Phirangipuram will be Andhra’s first all-women station

• Phirangipuram is all set to be Andhra’s first all-women rail station.

• It is third all-women station of India after Matunga station of Mumbai and Gandhi Nagar station of Jaipur.

• It is a great step in addressing gender equality in the biggest public sector organization (Indian Railway) in the country.
