1.        Andhra Pradesh became ODF

·        Andhra Pradesh has been declared Open Defecation Free state by the Chief Minister of state Chandrababu Naidu.

·        Sikkim is the first state in the country to have ODF status followed by Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Uttarakhand and Haryana.

·        Andhra Pradesh was declared ODF in urban areas along with Gujarat in 2016.

 

2.        SCO Summit in China

·        The 18th edition of Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit is being held in Qingdao, China.

·        Prime Minister Narendra Modi has represented the country in the summit.

·        SCO is a permanent intergovernmental organisation that works on mutual trust and peaceful neighbourhood policy.

 

3.         Dhanush: First Indian made artillery gun

·        Dhanush is India’s first indigenous long-range artillery gun which has cleared its final test and now it can be inducted into the Indian Army.

·        It is also known as “Desi Bofors” and earlier this month fifty rounds of shells were fired from six Dhanush guns.

·        It is suitable for all the conditions viz. cold, humid and hot conditions.

 

4.        Varanasi Airport: First Airport with facial recognition

·        Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport will be India’s first airport to have an automated smart facial recognition system at entry point, security point and boarding point.

·        It is a part of DigiYatra scheme which will ensure quicker entry into airports by facilitating automated check-ins.

·        The system will be completely functional in next four months.

 

 

5.        Committee for Asset Reconstruction Company

·        Union Finance Minister (in-charge) Piyush Goyal has said that there will be set up of committee to give recommendation on formation of an Asset Reconstruction Company.

·        The committee will be under the chairmanship of Sunil Mehta who is non-executive chairman of Punjab National Bank (PNB).

·        The committee will recommend all suggestions in two weeks for the faster resolution of stressed accounts.
