1.     Merger of BoB, Dena bank and Vijya bank proposed

Ø Merger of Bank of Baroda, Dena Bank and Vijya Bank will create third largest state owned bank.

Ø The decision was taken by a panel headed by finance minister and consists of defense minister Nirmala Sitharaman and railways minister Piyush Goyal.

Ø It is a part of Banking Sector Reform and based on recommendation of various banking expert committees such as Narsimham Committee and Basel Norm III.


2.     Digital North East Vision Document 2022

Ø Government has launched the event in Guwahati.

Ø The aim is to provide optimum utilization of Information Communication and Technology.



Ø Indian Cricket Captain Virat Kohli and weightlifter Mira Bai Chanu have been jointly recommended for 2018 Rajeev Gandhi Khel Ratna Award.

Ø India’s first mission to study sun will be launched ISRO in 2019, said A.S Kiran Kumar chairman of ISRO.

Ø All women crew INS Tarini has been conferred as Tenzing Norgay International Adventure award.

Ø World Bank will give $74 million for Uttarakhand Workforce Development Project.

Ø There will be KYC norms for Portfolio investment of foreigner as per the new guidelines of Security and Exchange Board of India.

Ø Bajaj Alliance and India Post Payment bank (IPPB) have become partners for five years to sell life insurance products on a revenue share basis.

Ø India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline project was inaugurated to connect Siliguri in West Bengal to Parbatipur in Dinajpur district of Bangladesh.

Ø Home Ministry launched online “e-Sahaj portal” for grant of Security Clearance.
