1. Qatar will leave the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) next month in order to focus on gas production, the Gulf state’s new Energy Minister Saad al­Kaabi


2. GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare Ltd. is merging with India’s biggest consumer goods company Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (HUL) in a deal worth ₹31,700 crore

3. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday announced cash prizes for the winner of ‘Hausla 2018’, the national festival for children living in childcare institutions (CCIs).

4. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said that ten residential model schools will be opened in Himachal Pradesh under the newly launched Atal Adarsh Aawasiya Shiksha Yojana.

5. More than 80 delegates from 11 countries are participating in an international conference on bears being organised in the Taj city for the first time. It is being hosted by Wildlife SOS.

6. 5.8-tonne GSAT-11 ready for launch

  • A team of top officials and engineers of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), now stationed in the Guiana Space Centre, South America, is going over the last steps before it sees off the heaviest Indian communication satellite, GSAT­11, to its space orbit.
  • The 5,854 kg satellite, almost double the biggest one built or launched by ISRO to date, will ride up on European launch vehicle Ariane 5 ECA, numbered VA246, between 2.07 a.m. and 3.23 a.m.
  • According to ISRO, GSAT­11’s multiple spot beam coverage — 32 in Ku band and 8 in Ka bands — will deliver an improved service of 16 gbps over the Indian region and nearby islands.
  • “GSAT­11 will play a vital role in providing broadband services across the country. It will also provide a platform to demonstrate new generation applications

7. Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) India has announced the start of sale of the Jaguar XJ50, a special edition model designed to celebrate half a century of the trademark vehicle.

8. ICICI Securities, BSE launch ‘instant payout’ facility

  • ICICI Securities, along with the BSE, has launched a facility wherein clients of the domestic brokerage entity would be able to receive the pay­out within 30 minutes of selling the shares. This is much quicker than the current system in which it takes at least two days after the transaction for investors to get the money in their bank account.

9. The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, paid floral tributes to Dr Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India, on his birth anniversary at Rashtrapati Bhavan today (December 3, 2018).

10. The Japanese Air Self Defence Force (JASDF) is in India for a bilateral air exercise SHINYUU Maitri-18 with Indian Air Force from 03-07 Dec 18 at A F Station Agra. The theme of the exercise is joint Mobility/Humanitarian Assistance & Disaster Relief (HADR) on Transport aircraft.

11.Shri Ravindra Kumar Verma has assumed the charge as Technical Member in the Appellate Tribunal for Electricity (APTEL), Ministry of Power for a period of 03 years. Hon’ble Mrs. Justice Manjula Chellur, Chairperson, APTEL administered the Oath of Office and Secrecy to Shri Ravindra Kumar Verma.

12. Foreign Minister of Romania, H.E. Mr. Teodor Melescanu visited India.

  • He visited India to commemorate 70 years of bilateral diplomatic relations with India and five years since the Joint Statement on establishing an Extensive Partnership between India and Romania.

13. Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik launched the ambitious “Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY)” at Teacher’s Bhawan in Jammu & Kashmir.

14. A book named “Modiraj Main Kisan, Double Aamad Ya Double afat” authored by Swaraj India President Yogendra Yadav launched by agricultural economist Ashok Gulati and the Punjab State Farmers’ and Farm Workers’ Commission Chairman Ajay Vir Jakhar in New Delhi.

                  Appointment and Resignation

15. A.N. Jha appointed Finance Secretary

  • A.N. Jha, Expenditure Secretary, was  designated Finance Secretary. He is the senior ­most IAS officer in the Finance Ministry and hence designated Finance Secretary.

16. Yes Bank has appointed former Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) chairman T.S Vijayan as an independent director on the board of the private sector bank with immediate effect.


17. Arjun Singh Cheema (Punjab) ruled the 50m free pistol event and ended up with the gold medals of the men’s and juniors section in the 62nd National shooting championships at the Vattiyoorkavu National Games ranges

18. Ullas Narayan became the first Indian individual medal winner in an international ultra running event by winning bronze in the 2018 International Association of Ultra Running (IAU) 24 Hour Asia & Oceania Championships in Taipei, Taiwan.
