1.The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi,attended the 50th Raising Day celebrations of Central Industrial Security Forces (CISF), at Indirapuram in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh.

  • The Prime Minister reviewed the parade of the CISF personnel. He presented the service medals for distinguished and meritorious services. He laid wreath at the Martyr’s Memorial and signed the visitor’s book.
  • The Prime Minister congratulated the forces for its Golden Jubilee. He praised the role of CISF in safeguarding and protecting the vital institutions of the country. He added that the responsibility of safeguarding the modern infrastructure built for New India is in the safe hands of CISF.

2.The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Bipin Rawat visited Para Brigade and reviewed their operational readiness.

  • The Brigade is a fully airborne brigade and is a decisive force multiplier. During 1971 operations, airborne operations by the Independent Para Brigade accelerated the momentum of operations leading to surrender of Pakistan Armed Forces at Dacca

3.National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) will celebrate its 34th Inception Day on March 11, 2019.

  • Shri Rajiv Gauba, Union Home Secretary will be the Chief Guest and Shri Rajiv Jain, Director, IB will be  the Guest of Honour on this occasion.
  • Prizes to the winners of NCRB Sports & other events will given alongwith Commendation Certificates to the various NCRB officers for their sincerity and dedication towards their work in the Bureau.

4.Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas & Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Shri Dharmendra Pradhan held a meeting with Minister of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources of Saudi Arabia and Chairman of Saudi Aramco, H.E. Eng. Khalid A. Al-Falih in New Delhi.

  • The meeting is a follow-up to the first State visit of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in February this year.
  • This visit also reflects the intensifying engagement between the two countries in the hydrocarbon sector.
  • Saudi Arabia is the second largest supplier of crude and LPG to India.
  • In 2017-18, India’s crude oil imports from Saudi Arabia were 36.8 MMT, accounting for 16.7% of our total imports.

5.The government allotted its 7-croreth free cooking gas (LPG) connection, as a part of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY).

  • This scheme was launched on 1st May, 2016 with the aim of issuing 5 crore connections to women from poor families.
  • 7 crore free LPG connections have been issued in the past 34 months which approximates to almost 69,000 connections per day.

6.The Export-Import Bank of Korea (KEXIM) proposed to provide a soft loan worth Rs.4,100 crore for the Visakhapatnam (Vizag) metro rail project. The matter was discussed in a meeting involving a delegation led by KEXIM Director (Operations) Yang Dong, Chief Secretary Anil Chandra Punetha, Amaravati Metro Rail Corporation Limited (AMRCL) Managing Director N.P. Ramakrishna Reddy and other officials at the Secretariat.


7.The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) signed an agreement with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in cooperation. IFC is a member of the World Bank Group.

  • The cooperation agreement provides a technical assistance by IFC to IBBI until 30th June, 2021.It will provide training of insolvency professionals and trainers by the IFC to IBBI.
  • IBBI provides a platform for re-organization and insolvency resolution of corporate persons, individuals and partnership firm sin a time bound manner for maximization of the value of assets.

8.The State Bank of India (SBI) became the first bank to link its interest rate on savings account with balance above Rs. 1 lakh and short-term loans to the repo rate of the Reserve Bank of India.

  • This shall be effective from 1st May 2019.
  • The current repo rate of RBI is 6.25%.

9.The Mizoram Liquor Prohibition Bill, 2019 was approved by the Mizoram Cabinet. The approval meeting was headed by the Chief Minister of Mizoram Zoramthanga.

                        Awards and Recognition

10.The new-age digital insurance company, ACKO General Insurance was awarded the prestigious Golden Peacock Innovative Product Award – 2019, for their contextual micro insurance product -“Ola Ride Insurance”.


11.The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India was awarded the First Prize in the category- TV Cinema Spot at the International Golden City Gate Tourism Awards 2019 held at Internationale Tourismus-Börse (ITB), Berlin.

  • The awards were received by Shri Yogendra Tripathi, Secretary, Tourism.


12.The Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Maneka Gandhi, felicitated the 30 winners of the ‘Web Wonder Women’ contest organized by the Ministry of Women and Child Development in New Delhi.

                   Appointment and Resignation
13.Ashu Khullar has been appointed by the Citibank as its India head, from 1st April 2019. He currently holds the position of head of Asia-Pacific capital markets.

14.Shri Manpreet Vohra, presently Additional Secretary in the Ministry has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to Mexico


15.Shri Kishan Dan Dewal, presently Deputy High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Mauritius, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Republic of Armenia

16.Divyansh Singh Panwar dominated the air rifle event, sweeping the honours in three events in the third National shooting selection trials at the Dr. Karni Singh Range, Tughlakabad

17.The second Hero Super Cup will start at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on March 15.
