1.A committee will be formed by the Narendra Modi ­led government to prepare a road map for “One nation, one election”.

  • It is  announced at the end of an over four ­hour meeting with presidents of 21 political parties. Eleven political parties, including the  Congress, skipped the meeting convened by the Prime Minister.
  • The Prime Minister said that this is not the government’s agenda but the country’s agenda. If there are differences of opinion, they are welcome.  Mr. Modi stressed that this formula needs to be accepted even if it takes 10 years to achieve synchronisation.

2.India has opened its first specialised hydrotherapy treatment for elephants suffering from arthritis, joint pain and foot ailments, near the Wildlife SOS Elephant Conservation and Care Centre (ECCC), which currently houses 20 rescued animals and is run in collaboration with the Uttar Pradesh Forest Department and the NGO Wildlife SOS.

  • It is situated on the banks of the Yamuna in Mathura, the hydrotherapy jumbo pool is 11 ­foot ­deep and has 21 high pressure jet sprays that create water pressure that massage the elephants’ feet and body and help in increasing blood circulation.

3.Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has hinted that there could be a cabinet reshuffle to induct state Assembly's Deputy Speaker Michael Lobo.

  • A two-term BJP MLA from Calangute Assembly seat in North Goa district, would be given a "bigger responsibility" in the state soon.
  • Lobo has to handle a bigger responsibility than what he has now.He has to serve the people of entire Goa and not just from his Assembly constituency

4.Air India has sought the permission of the Airports Authority of India to operate Boeing 747-­400, a wide bodied jet airliner, at the Calicut International Airport even as the national flag carrier is awaiting a final approval from the Director General of Civil Aviation to recommence operations of aircraft.

5.IT services major HCL Technologies said it has signed a multi-year deal with Cricket Australia (CA) to deliver digital experiences to fans, players and employees.

  • HCL Tech will help the Australian cricket's governing body provide an elevated and immersive digital experience to cricket fans, players, partners, employees, and volunteers across the country and around the world, through CA's digital offerings.
  • HCL Tech will also engineer a digital core ecosystem for CA through a composable platform that will be modular, auto-scalable, data-driven and experience-centric.  

6.The Congress government in Rajasthan has launched a major initiative to establish livelihood business incubators (LBIs) in all districts to promote employment oriented skills training for the youth in a big way.  

  • For the first time, the State is replicating the model adopted by the National Small Industries Corporation.
  • Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Principal Secretary Alok said that a department team would shortly visit the NSIC Technical Services Centre in Okhla, New Delhi, to study its model.
  • He said though the establishment of LBIs had earlier been sanctioned for eight districts, the progress on the work was very slow  

7.External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yury Trutnev and discussed ways to strengthen ties between the two nations and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Vladivostok for the Eastern Economic Forum later this year.

  • The meeting comes days after Prime Minister Modi met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan

8.Chairman Putta Sudhakar Yadav tendered his resignation.

  • In a letter to TTD Executive Officer Anil Kumar Singhal, he cited personal reasons for resigning from the post.  

                        Awards and Recognition

9.Ace fashion designer Ralph Lauren has received Honorary Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire for his services to the world of fashion.

  • The award was presented to him by Prince Charles in a private ceremony at Buckingham Palace.
  • This is the first time that an American designer is recognised with an honorary knighthood by the UK

                         Important Days

10.World Refugee Day is observed on 20th June every year to raise awareness about the conditions and problems that refugee faces in their lives.

  • The theme for World Refugee Day 2019 is 'Step With Refugees — Take A Step on World Refugee Day.'
  • The theme focuses on that there is a need to take big and small steps in solidarity with refugees from around the world.This day provides an opportunity to show globally that we all are with refugees.


11.Luis Enrique has stepped down as Spain coach for personal reasons and will be replaced by his assistant Roberto Moreno, the Spanish Football Federation.

  • Moreno has been in charge for Spain's last three matches and will now lead the team through Euro 2020 qualifying and the final tournament

12.Mitrabha Guha, one of the young talents from Bengal, secured the International Master title after defeating GM Ziaur Rahaman of Bangladesh in the third round of the second Goa International Grandmasters chess tournament.

  • After winning the first three rounds in the tournament, Mitrabha successfully crossed the required Elo rating of 2400 to ensure the title.
