1.Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi visited Hubli, Karnataka in the final leg of his one day long tour to Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. At Gabbur, Hubli he unveiled several development projects.  

  • PM unveiled a plaque to mark the laying of foundation stone of Indian Institute of Technology –Dharwad and Indian Institute of Information Technology –Dharwad.
  • City Gas Distribution Project at Dharwad was dedicated to the nation on this occasion. Government has strongly emphasized on expansion of City Gas Distribution (CGD) network coverage across the country to increase the availability of cleaner fuel to citizens.
  • To ensure Energy Security, 1.5 MMT Mangalore Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) facility and 2.5 MMT Padur SPR facility of ISPRL were also dedicated to the nation.
  • Prime Minister Modi dedicated Doubling of 18 km long Chikjajur-Mayakonda Section, to the nation. Chikjajur-Mayakonda Section is a part of 190 km long Hubli – Chikjajur Doubling project and is located on Bengaluru – Hubballi route of South Western Railway. Doubling will increase the line capacity of this important route connecting Bengaluru to Hubballi, Belagavi, Goa, Pune and Mumbai, resulting in faster movement of trains.
  • Keeping his commitment of Housing for everyone, Prime Minister witnessed the e-Griha Pravesh of 2350 houses constructed under PMAY(U) at Dharwad.

2.The Prime Minister will inaugurate the PETROTECH - 2019 at India Expo Centre, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh on 11th February 2019.

  • PETROTECH - 2019 is considered to be India’s flagship hydrocarbon conference. PETROTECH-2019, the 13th International Oil & Gas Conference & Exhibition is being organised under the aegis of the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government of India.
  • The three-day mega event, from 10 to 12 February 2019, will showcase the recent market and investor friendly developments in India’s oil and gas sector. Over 95 Energy Ministers from partner countries and 7000 delegates from around 70 countries are expected to be part of PETROTECH -2019.

3.The International Labour Organization (ILO) centenary celebrations have been inaugurated by the Union Minister of Labour and Employment, Santosh Kumar Gangwar at V.V. Giri National Labour Institute in Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

4.Lions,identified as one of the endangered species by the government,the Ministry of Environment launched a three-year Asiatic Lion Conservation Project in collaboration with the state of Gujarat.

5.A Himalayan Cloud Observatory is set up in Tehri district with a motive to forecast and monitor cloudburst incidents in the Himalayan region and help minimising the damage.

6.The Jammu & Kashmir Government declared Ladakh as the third administrative division of the state.

  • Hindi is included as the third official language in the Abu Dhabi court system with a motive to improve access to justice for foreign workers .

7.Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani and also richest person in Asia, topped the Hurun India Philanthropy list with donation amount of 437 crores.

  • Mukesh Ambani is followed by  the chairman of the Piramal Group, Ajay Piramal who donated 200 crores.

8.Shri Sanjay Kumar Verma, presently Ambassador of India to Japan, has been concurrently accredited as the next Ambassador of India to the Republic of Marshall Islands, with residence in Tokyo.


9.Popular Bollywood villain Mahesh Anand was found dead at his home in Mumbai.

10.February 10, 2019, was the first-ever World Pulses Day.

United Nations global event to celebrate pulses worldwide and continue the important gains made with the 2016 International Year of Pulses.


11.Rajasthan Royals named Shane Warne as its brand ambassador for the IPL.

12.Pankaj Advani claimed his ninth senior National snooker title, win over Laxman Rawat in a one ­sided final.

13.England’s Jamie Chadwick scripted history in the MRF Challenge, becoming the first female driver to claim the championship in seven seasons, as she finished the third and final round of the International series with a triple crown, including two back ­to ­back wins, at the MMRT
