Students in the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas are admitted in class VI and provided education upto Class XII Now provision is made for lateral entry of students in class IX and XI. also.

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas are residential and  co-educational  School running under Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti which is a registered society under registration of Societies Act,1860.The society is an autonomous body under the Department of Secondary & Higher Education, Ministry of human resource Development , Govt.of India. Hon'ble Minister of human resource Development is the Chairmen and Hon'ble Minister of State of human resource Development education) is the Vice Chairman of the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti.

To appear at the Selection Test, a candidate has to fulfill the following eligibility conditions:
1.  A candidate appearing for the Selection Test must be studying in Class V in a Government/Government-Aided or other recognized school or schools under Schemes of "Sarav Shiksa Abhiyan" or 'B' certificate competency course of National Institute of Open Schooling in the same district where he/she is seeking admission in the just preceding academic session for which Selection Test is conducted. Actual admission in Class VI in the session is, however, subject to the condition of having passed Class V before admission.
2.A candidate seeking admission must be between the age group 9-13 years on 1st May of the year of admission for which the Selection Test is conducted. This applies to all categories of candidates including those who belong to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
3.A candidate claiming admission from rural quota must have studied and passed class III, IV & V from Government/Government Aided/recognized schools spending one full academic session each year in a school located in Rural area. Such conditions, however, are not application on those candidates who apply from urban quota.
4.  A candidate who is not promoted to Class V before November of the preceding academic year for which, the test is conducted is not eligible to apply.
 
 No candidate is allowed to appear in the selection test, for the second time under any circumstances.

  • Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas  are affilated to Central board of secondary Education (CBSE)
  • We provide free education including boarding and lodging as well as expenses on Uniform, Texbook, Stationary etc. However , a nominal fee @ 200/- per month is charged from students of class IX to XII as Navodaya Vikas  Nidhi. The students belonging SC,ST categories , girls disabled students and children of the families below poverty  line are exempted from this fee.

  • Provisions of reservation of seats for girls- 33 %
  • Establish and reservation of seats for girls -33%
  • Establish and run fully residentially Co-educationally schools from class VI to XII.
  • Extended medical and health facilities to all the students free of cost.
  • Organized Parent TEACHER council AND CONDUCTED THEIR PERIODICALLY MEETINGS.
  • Provide admission in Class VI only through objective type test designed and conducted by CBSE in the concerned district .Provision is also made for lateral entry of students of class IX level.
  • 30% of students in class IX from a vidyalaya located in one linguisted area spend one academic year in Vidyalaya of a different linguistic region to promote national interegation through understanding of the diversity and plurality of country's cultures and picture.
  • Organise  Computer Literacy and computer Aided Education Programmes.
  • Organise National Interagretion Meet for its students in order to create a climate for better understanding and communication in the Navodaya fraternity.

Sports & Games

Games and Sports  are encouraged in JNVs to develop fitness, physical and neuromuscular skills  and to promote the spirit of cooperation and  sportsmanship.  Samiti organizes  school level, cluster level, regional level and national level competitions in sports and games every year.  Facilities for many sports and games viz. Volley Ball, Basket Ball, Table Tennis, Football, Kabadi, Kho-Kho, etc. are provided to all JNVs.  Archery, Judo and Gymnastics are also encouraged in some of the JNVs situated in the tribal areas of the country  where the same are popular  sports.

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs)

NVS gives utmost importance to Computer Aided Education in JNVs. JNVs are  well equipped with needed hardware and software in the recent past. Training is imparted to all the members of staff in general and to teaching faculty in particular.  Round the clock internet connection through VSAT connectivity is extended in a phased way. To facilitate classroom transaction more effectively and viably, e-contents are being developed by majority of JNVs. More than 200 websites are opened by the JNVs so far.  By and large Teachers and Students are using Information & Communication Technology  in Teaching � Learning Processes very enthusiastically.
