Generally the tribal boys of Arunachal are admitted to the preparatory class & class XI through entrance tests. As the intake capacity for the above classes is limited, the selection is done on the basis of merit. Facilities Offered to the Students : This year our school spent 52.67% of the total expenditure on students from our own funds. The Govt. of India contributed 24.70% and the balance of 22.63% was collected from students. The amount collected from the students was spent for their own benefit. Earlier, our students coming from far-flung areas of Arunachal Pradesh, used to carry a huge burden consisting of mattress, mosquito net, pillow, bed cover , quilt etc. As this is a rain prone area, 3 sets of uniform as per the norms of MTA are not sufficient. Hence, the guardians used to make another 4 to 5 sets of dresses, shoes, sleepers, socks etc. Moreover there used to be discrepancy in the quality of articles mentioned above. And as a result, those having inferior quality of articles would feel uncomfortable. To stop this anomaly and to give respite to the parents from carrying huge loads of articles from distant places, the Mission authorities deemed it fit to supply all the above-mentioned articles from our students’ stores at reasonable rates. This system has given great relief to the guardians and has brought equality among the students.

Ramakrishna Mission, Narottam Nagar occupies an area of 250 acres inside the jungle away from the towns. Hence, without residential facilities for the students the purpose of imparting education among the tribal boys cannot be fulfilled. Therefore the authorities have developed through the years the following infrastructure : School No. of class rooms: 44 No. of Lavatories/Bathrooms: 27 Playgrounds: 9 nos. 1 Big Stadium (Mahavir Stadium) Staff rooms and office room: 9 nos. Teachers staff quarters: 30 nos. Office Staff quarters: 10 nos. Other staff (G.D.A.) quarters: 60 nos. Hostel Dormitories (accommodating 46 students) – 10 nos. (from class Prep to IX). Hostel Rooms (accommodating 3 students in one room): 30 rooms (from Class X to XII). No. of Lavatories/Bathrooms 78 nos

Technology plays a part in serving our students. Each of our grade levels has a computer lab that is equipped with Study Island. Lab facilitators download student data and disseminate it to the grade level administrators and teachers, so instruction can be planned. Our students may check out Accelerated Read books from the media center. Lexile scores identified by MAP testing scores also aid in the process of selecting book titles on each student’s instructional level. Computers are also available in the media center for students to access the Internet in order to conduct research. All of our teachers have a Smartboard in their classroom. There is also a mobile computer lab for instructional use. The District’s technology department is also housed at St. George Middle School. The District’s focus is on literacy this year. Our teachers have participated in Best Traits in Writing Workshops on District Staff Development Days. ELA, science, social studies, and special needs teachers are working with 6+1 Traits. All of St. George Middle School teachers are studying and applying reading strategies as identified in Chris Tovani’s books through their grade-level book study groups. Students’ MAP scores are analyzed during the fall, winter, and the spring of the year. The fall scores are used for the baseline data; the spring scores measure students’ growth for the year. Students are placed in either math or reading intervention based on their individualized MAP scores from the fall testing.
