 1.        New non-executive chairpersons for different banks

·        The Ministry of Finance has appointed non-executive chairman of Dena Bank, Central Bank of India and Punjab & Sind Bank.

·        The appointment is part of reform of public sector banks.

·        Anjali Bansal, Tapan Ray and Charan are appointed as non-executive chairperson of Dena Bank, Central Bank of India and Punjab & Sind Bank.

·        Many cases of bad loans and massive losses in these banks are reported from these banks.


2.        ASEAN India Film Festival

·        India is hosting ASEAN-India Film Festival this year in New Delhi.

·        The tag-line of this festival is “Friendship through Films”.

·        It will work as a platform for member countries of ASEAN to explore areas of cooperation in domain of cinema and cultural cooperation.



3.        Justice Chandramauli gets second term for PCI          

·        Former judge of Supreme Court Justice Chandramauli Kumar Prasad has been appointed as the Chairman of the Press Council of India (PCI).

·        He has been given second term by a committee of three members headed by Vice President Venkaiah Naidu.

·        He first time became the chairman of the council by replacing Justice Markanday Katju in November, 2014.

·        PCI is a statutory body which governs the conduct of the print media.


4.        Airtel Payment Bank announced CEO&MD

·        India’s first payment bank, Airtel Payment Bank has announced the appointment of its Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

·        Anubrata Biswas will be its MD and CEO.

·        Mr. Biswas will take responsibility for the convenient and innovative digital service to the doorstep of every indian


5.        Samagra Shiksha Scheme

·        It is a schme which unifies learning from the pre-school to class 12 levels.

·        The scheme will encapsulate the elements of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan and teacher education.

·        The scheme will give high focus on digital education.

·        It will have priority for quality education, learning outcomes of students, bridging social and gender gap in school education and promoting vocational education.
