 1.        Pinaka rocket test-fired successfully

·        The guided Pinaka Rocket was launched form Integrated Test Range at Chandipur (Odisha).

·        The new form will have a range of 70 km (earlier 40 km).

·        The guided rocket has been developed by Armament Research and Development Establishment (ARDE) Pune, the RCI and the Defence Research and Development Laboratory, Hyderabad.


2.        31st May: World No Tobacco Day

·        The theme of World No Tobacco Day 2018 is “tobacco and heart disease”.

·        World No Tobacco has been designated by World Health Organisation (WHO).

·        It encourages people worldwide to stop tobacco use at least for 24 hours.


3.        Gaj Yatra in Meghalaya

·        Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and the wildlife Trust of India started the ‘Gaj yatra’ from Tura, Meghalaya.

·        The yatra aims to raise awareness about India’s wild elephant and securing elephant corridor.

·        Elephant mascots are used for generating awareness among people.


4.        Microsoft is third valuable firm of world

·        Microsoft has become third most valuable firm of the world with a market cap $753billion.

·        It has surpassed Alphabet (Google’s parent company) recently.

·        Apple is leading the world market with a market cap of $924 billion followed by Amazon with nearly $783 billion market cap.
