1.     GIAN will have new course

·        “Urban Analytics- Evaluating and Measuring Sustainability of Cities” is the new course under Global Institute on Academic Network (GIAN).

·        It has been launched by NITI Aayog at IIT, Roorkee.

·        This course will provide understanding and analysis on the urbanization and its impact that would evaluate the conditions of sustainability of Indian cities.

 

2.     Fortified rice through PDS

·        The Ministry of Food and Public Distribution has clarified that fortified rice will be distributed through Public distribution system (PDS).

·        Union Food Minsiter Ram Vilas Paswan also promised that price of food grains supplied through PDS will not be increased till June 2019.

·        In fortified rice Vitamin A, B and D, folic acid, iodine and iron will be added.

 

3.     125 year of Gandhi’s satyagrah in South Africa

·        Gandhiji was thrown off the train’s first class compartment at Pietermaritzburg station on the night of June 7, 1893.

·        There was screening of the biopic ‘Making of a Mahatma ‘ on the events to commemorate the historic incident 125 years ago.

·        After such incident Gandhiji established Tolstoy and Phoenix Aashram in South Africa.

 

4.     LifeBox to transport organ by IISc

·        Researchers of Indian Institute of Science (IISc) have finally developed a ‘LifeBox’ which will preserve organs for some time and due to which it will allow for increased travel time and distances.

·         Researchers have also elaborated that transportation through drone will reduce time up to 50%.

·        The technology used to transport a payload for the distance of 10 km.
