1.        ISRO will launch its TV channel

·      Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) will launch a TV channel to promote scientific temper among the people.

·      ISRO is also planning to set up an incubation centre for startups.

·      ISRO will select students and will give them training for about 25-30 days and the students will be allowed to visit laboratory.

·      Students will also be promoted to make their own small satellites.

 

2.        Former Lok Sabha Speaker Chatterjee passes away

·     Former Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee passed away on August 13, 2018.

·  He represented Bardhaman, Jadavpur and Bolpur constituency of West Bengal. 

·   He was the Lok Sabha Speaker from 2004-2009.

·   He was awarded Outstanding Parliamentarian Award in 1996.

 

3.        National Wildlife Genetic Resource Bank

·      National Wildlife Genetic Resource Bank was inaugurated by Science & Technology Minister Harsh Vardhan in Hyderabad.

·      It will facilitate the exchange of genetic material between the zoos of India and that will further maintain genetic diversity.

·      It is the systematic collection and preservation of tissues, eggs, sperm, embryos and genetic material.

·      Nepal-India Literature Festival 2018 began in Birgunj, Nepal on 12th August 2018.

·      Lionel Messi has become Barcelona’s most decorated player after winning 33rd title on August 12, 2018.

·      Trade ministers of Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) will meet in Singapore on 30-31 August, 2018.

·      Justice M R Shah has become the new Chief Justice of Patna High Court.

·      A new clot buster named as “PEGlyated Strptokinase” has been developed by Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).

·      India will launch Chandrayaan-2 in the January-March in 2019.
