1.       Kathmandu Declaration

·     The leaders of BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral technical and Economic Cooperation) adopted Kathmandu Declaration on 31st  August, 2018 at the 4th BIMSTEC summit.

·  Leaders agreed for cross-country energy grid interconnection and reaffirmed strong commitment to working out a comprehensive approach to combat terrorism.

·  BIMSTEC comprises Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Bhutan and Nepal.

 

2.        One liner Current Affairs

·  Indian economy grew by 8.2% in the April-June quarter for 2018 because of the robust growth in the manufacturing, construction and farm sectors.

·  National Trust Center will be established by Telecom commission to certify devices and applications for machine-to-machine communication.

· Census of 2021 will collect data on Other Backward Classes (OBC) for the first time.

·  Sakshi Chaudhary won the gold medal at the Youth Boxing in Budapest on 31st August 2018.

· RBI has cancelled the license of Rajasthan based Bhilawara Mahila Urban Co-operative Bank.

· Indian Women’s Hockey Team won silver medal at Asian Games 2018.

· “Mil- Banche” programme has been launched by Madhya Pradesh government for the multi-dimensional development of children through language skill up-gradation, reading other books in addition to textbooks.

· Asian Development Bank (ADB) will provide $346 million to improve over 400 km of State highways in Karnataka.

· Amit Panghal became the eighth Indian boxer ever to claim a gold medal at the Asian Games. He won gold medal in 49 kg category.

· Seema Punia won bronze medal in women’s discus throw at the Asian Games in Indonesia.

· Mumbai airport has been renamed as Chhatrapati Shivaji “Maharaj” International Airport.
