  1. Statute in Braille to mark Constitution Day

  • The Constitution will be made available in Braille for the first time ahead of the Constitution Day on November 26.

  • In a joint project under­taken by The Buddhist As­sociation for the Blind along with Saavi Founda­tion and Swagat Thorat, who started India’s first Braille newsletter Sparshdnyan, the Consti­tution will be made availa­ble in five parts in Braille for the benefit of visually challenged individuals.

     2. China eyes trade war solution at G20 talks


  • China said that it hopes U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese   premier Xi Jinping will find a solution to the continuing trade war when they meet at the G20 summit.

      3. Oil dips 6% despite potential OPEC cut

  • Oil prices slumped more than 6% on Friday, with Brent set for a    12% plunge this week, as fears that sup­ply would overpower de­mand intensified, even as major producers considered cutting output.

       4. President of India Delivers Lecture on “Australia                 and India as Knowledge Partners” at University of Melbourne; Calls for Enhanced Sci-Tech and Innovation  Relations

  • The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, reached Melbourne today (November 23, 2018) on the third day of his visit to Australia. He addressed students and members of the academic community at the University of Melbourne. The topic of his address was “Australia and India as Knowledge Partner”

  • The President said the India-Australia knowledge partnership rests on two pillars: education cooperation and scientific collaboration

5. Government of India to observe the remembrance of 100 years of the historical Jallianwala Bagh massacre

  • The Minister of State for Culture(I/c), Dr Mahesh Sharma visited the Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar, Punjab today along with Minister of State (IC) for Housing and Urban Affairs, Shri Hardeep Singh Puri and officials from ASI and NBCC to review the preparations for remembrance of 100 years of  ‘Jallianwala Bagh Massacre’ , in 2019.

  • on 13th April, 2019 (the day the incident took place 100 years ago).Ministry of Culture will organise cultural activities such as kavi sammelan, plays, exhibition, seminars, etc. across the country.

  • implementation of the following:

  1. provide basic amenities for visitors

  2. renovate, upgrade and beautify the Jallianwala Bagh Memorial, and

  3. develop Virtual Reality  Theme Based show at the Memorial

6. Open Forum Discusses the Digital Dilemma of Archiving Process

  • India’s diverse cinema has caught the attention and imagination of film fraternity across the world. Right from the first silent film Raja Harishchandra in 1913 by Dadasaheb Phalke to the present, the country has presented a bouquet of movies that spans regions, languages and cultures

  • At the Open Forum of International Film Festival of India (IFFI),   brought to fore ‘The urgent need for digitization, restoration, and preservation of cinema for posterity’.


7. EIB expands wind energy finance plan


  • The European Investment Bank (EIB)  said it will increase its support for India’s wind energy pro­jects by expanding the ex­isting lending programmes with SBI.

  •  Having audio ­description and same language sub­titling would be a step in the right direction, says Dipendra Manocha, co­founder of Delhi­ based “Saksham”, an NGO working for persons with disability (PwD), par­ticularly the visually impaired.

  • With former Minister Damodar Rout formally joining the Samata Kranti Dal here on Friday, its leaders announced that they would soon rename the party as Biju Samata Kranti Dal. The Samata Kranti Dal was founded in May 2013.

  12. World T20 to be renamed


  • The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday re­named the ICC Women’s World T20 championships as the T20 World Cup, claiming it would “en­hance” the event’s profile and ensure that its status is at par with pinnacle events of the ODI and Test format.


13.Sonia Chahal stunned North Korea’s Asian Games silver medallist Son Hwa Jo 5­0 to earn India a se­cond spot in the finals of the World women’s boxing championships at the Indira Gandhi Stadium Complex

  • Former India hockey player Sandeep Michael passed away due to a brain infection.

  • He was 33.

  • Michael was admitted to As­ter CMI Hospital here around five days ago.
