1. The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has given ex-post facto approval to the Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) between India and Japan. The MoC was signed on 29th October 2018  during the visit of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India to Japan.

  • The MoC will enable establishment and promotion of closer and long-term cooperation between India and Japan in the field of environment protection and management of natural resources on the basis of equity, reciprocity and mutual benefits, taking into account the applicable laws and legal provisions in each country. Further, the MoC entails exchange of information and technology between the two countries.

2. The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has been apprised of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and the United States of America (USA) concerning Scientific and Technical Cooperation in the Earth Sciences. The MoU was signed on 1st November 2018.

  •       The collaboration between India and the USA will enable sharing of the expertise available with organizations in both countries, and adoption of the latest state-of-the-art technology in the field of Earth Science.


3. The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today has given its ex-post facto approval to the signing of Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) between India and the Kanagawa Prefectural Government of Japan in the field of Healthcare and Wellness.

  • The MoC, will enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the areas of Traditional Systems of Medicine. This will be of immense importance to both countries.
  • The Ministry of AYUSH of the Republic of India having the mandate to promote, propagate and globalize these Traditional Systems has taken effective steps by entering into MoU with 14 countries for Cooperation in the field of Traditional Medicine.


4. The ninth edition of ‘Admirals CupSailing Regatta (2018) concluded, 06 December 2018 with a glittering closing ceremony at Ettikulam Beach at Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala.

  • Team Italy represented by Midshipman Vincenzo Rocco and Midshipman Alberto Cabras won the Admiral's Cup 2018. Team Singapore represented by 2nd Lieutenant Koh Yi Qian and 2nd Lieutenant Dillon


5. Exercise Hand-in-Hand is conducted annually as part of military diplomacy and interaction between armies of India and China. The joint exercise for the year 2018 will be conducted from 10 to 23 December 2018 at Chengdu, China.  

  • The aim of the exercise is to build and promote close relations between armies of both the countries and to enhance ability of joint exercise commander to take military contingents of both nations under command.  The exercise will involve tactical level operations in an International Counter Insurgency/ Counter Terrorist environment under UN mandate.


6. The Hon’ble Minister for Electronics & IT, Law & Justice, Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad, launched a National Challenge for Youths, “Ideate for India - Creative Solutions using Technology”, at New Delhi.


  • The aim of this National Challenge is to give school students across the country a platform and opportunity to become solution creators for the problems they see around them and their communities.


7. Union Minister of State for Home Shri Kiren Rijiju inaugurated the 19th All India Police (AIPDM) Shooting Competition-2018 at Manesar, Gurugram in Haryana.

  • The Meet is  being organized by the National Security Guard (NSG) under the aegis of All India Police Sports Control Board from 6th Dec 2018 to 11th Dec 2018.


8. West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee said the sea resort town of Digha is being developed as a tourist destination and an industry hub to make it comparable to similar places in the country


9. The Union Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the amendment to a 1951 Act concerning Jalianwala Bagh Trust, substituting Congress president with leader of the single largest Opposition party in the Lok Sabha as a member of the Trust. The amendment will ensure there is a provision for representation of a single national political party.

10. Biju Balendran has been appointed managing director and chief executive officer for Renault Nissan Automotive India (RNAIPL) and Sambath Kumar chief finance officer for Nissan India operations.

18. The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has condoled the passing away of Shri Mohammad Asrarul Haque.

  • Shri Mohammad Asrarul Haque was the Lok Sabha MP from Kishanganj in Bihar.


19. The 60th (diamond jubilee) winter National bridge championships will be held at the Jayalalithaa Indoor Stadium from December 9 to 16.

20. Stephen Curry scored 42 points to lead the Golden State Warriors to a 129-­105 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on in an NBA.

21. Mahaveer Singh, with 589 in two rounds, bagged the gold in the 25m centre fire pistol event of the 62nd National shooting championships.
