1. Govt. asks Twitter to help track accounts

  • The Centre has asked microblogging site Twitter to furnish telephone numbers and other identifiable sources that could help track suspicious accounts, as asked for by law enforcement agencies.

 

2. GSLV­-MkIII-­D2/GSAT-­29 to be launched today from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota. The lift-off is slated for 5.08 p.m. on Wednesday.

  • GSAT­29 will improve Internet-­based communication in Jammu and Kashmir and the Northeastern States.

 

3. Countdown begins for  F1 power-boat racing

  • The F1H2O powerboat race buzz is growing louder 48 hours ahead of the world championship set to make a splash in River Krishna in Amaravati, the capital city of Andhra Pradesh.
  • Nine teams comprising 19 Formula 1 drivers and nine Formula 4 drivers from 12 countries have arrived besides 21 large containers carrying 10 Formula 1 boats and 10 Formula 4 boats. These boats have been imported from China.

 

4. Tomar, Gowda get Ananth Kumar’s portfolios

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi has redistributed the portfolios of late Ananth Kumar between Union Statistics Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda and Rural Development Minister Narendra Singh Tomar.
  • Mr. Gowda has been assigned the charge of the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, while Mr. Tomar will be Minister of Parliamentary Affairs.

 

5. New index to check ease of doing agri­-business

  • The Centre expects to roll out a new Ease of Doing Agri­Business Index early next year, which will rank the States on the basis of such reforms, as well as their investment in agriculture, increased productivity, reduction of input costs, and risk mitigation measures.

 

6. Amazon, the online retailing giant, officially announced that it will split its “second headquarters” between New York City and a Washington DC suburb in Northern Virginia

 

7. After IL&FS, SEBI tightens norms for raters

  • The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has tightened the disclosure norms for credit rating agencies (CRAs) that will now have to take into account various factors, including asset­-liability mismatch, liquid investments, cash flows and capital infusion from parent or group entities while performing any rating action.
  • The regulator has also made it mandatory for rating agencies to disclose full list of subsidiaries or group companies if such entities form part of the consolidated ratings.

 

8. IL&FS board gives new roadmap to NCLAT

  • The newly-­formed board of IL&FS informed the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) that it has drawn up a new roadmap to address concerns of lenders.

 

9. Allahabad Bank posts loss of ₹1,823 crore

  • Allahabad Bank’s net loss narrowed to ₹1,822.71 crore from the ₹1,944.4 crore loss in the immediately previous quarter.
  • The bank said in a regulatory filing that its losses were due to higher provisioning on account of NCLT-referred accounts and latest RBI guidelines regarding restructured accounts and ageing NPAs
