The certification is valid for two years, taking the exam now is pointless. I’m guessing you are planning for computer sciences? I’d suggest you to do the course after you have an understanding of the seven layer OSI model but if you feel brave, take the one month course atleast. NIIT is a rip off considering how simple the syllabus is.

CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) is the Cisco Academy Computer Networking Course with a curriculum designed to prepare computer networking students to pass the CCNA exam, or the ICND 1 and 2 certification exams. Here is an overview of CCNA and where it fits among the Cisco career certifications.
Certification Levels
Cisco has four levels of certification: CCENT–Cisco Certified Entry Network Technician (entry level); CCNA–Cisco Certified Network Associate; CCNP–Cisco Certified Network Professional; and CCIE Switching and Routing is the highest level. Offered separately is the CCDA–Cisco Certified Design Associate–certification.
CCNA Certification Exams
Required Exam(s) for certification are: 640-802 CCNA or both 640-822 ICND1 and 640-816 ICND2.
The key benefit of the ICND classes, besides the obvious exam preparation, is the hand-on work to prepare you for working in the field. Those who pass the exam without any hands-on are often called “Paper CCNAs” by experienced Cisco Net-workers.
