I had recently written to you about your bank making it to Forbes Asia’s ‘Fab 50’ list for the 9th year in a row. Forbes Asia featured HDFC Bank on their cover page and highlighted our thrust on the growing opportunities in digital and rural India.

I am happy to inform you that in continuation of our focus on cutting-edge digital banking solutions, we have launched the world’s first Biometric Loan Approval process which allows customers to truly experience the #PowerOfBanking at their fingertips. With the help of an Aadhaar number and biometric scanner, customers can avail of a Car Loan in 30 minutes and a Two Wheeler Loan in just 15 minutes! Along with the progress made in the digital sphere, we also believe that future growth will come from India’s semi-urban and rural areas where 60% of the country lives. With the objective to provide real financial inclusion and not merely financial access to rural India, we are proud to launch ‘Dhanchayat’, a part of HDFC Bank’s SwachhBanking CSR initiative
Through the HDFC Bank branded Dhanchayat video vans, we will showcase an educational film highlighting the importance of transparency in dealings as also the dignity and self-respect of the individual in the borrowing process. In the process we will raise awareness on the pitfalls of borrowing money from unorganised sources. These video vans will initially cover 5,000 villages across India in the catchment around our rural branches and encourage the local populace to join the organized banking sector.
