G.G.M Science College also given the name Prince of Whales actually started functioning on 20th April 1907. It had 26 students on its roll and Prof. R.N.Mukherjee was appointed as the principal of the college. The college was then shifted to present campus on 18th Sept 1912 with Prof. S.Robson as the principal. The Prince of Whales College was affiliated to Punjab University, Lahore in May, 1908. Initially, the subjects namely English, Mathematics, Chemistry, History, Persian, Sanskrit and Philosophy were taught. That time the college admitted Co-education till 1944, when a separate Maharani Mahila College established. Presently many new subjects are being taught in the College. The subjects are Electronics, Computer Applications, Functional English, BCA and Postgraduate course. Now the College has once again started Co-education in every field. The faculty of the College is extensively involved in research work and extension activities.
