Bethany Convent School, Tora, Bargarh is administered by the Bethany Educational Society (R) Mangalore, a Christian Religious Minority Institution.
Situated in Western Orissa, it is about 10 km from Bargarh town. As one walks through the lush green fields, one experiences the natural soothing for the eyes and refreshment to the mind. In the midst of nature’s unadulterated beauty the Bethany Convent is situated with an English Medium School having 150 students on the roll with in two years.
7th July 2009 was a red lettered day for Bargarh as the Bethany Convent School was established. The building was blessed Rt. Rev. Lucas Kerketta and was inaugurated by Sr Maria Leena the Provincial Superior and Corporate Manager of Northern Province. Sr Shaila, the Principal, Sr Alice Kamla Minz and Sr Kanti Dung Dung as teachers are the pioneers.
In 2010 Sr Anita Moras succeeded Sr Shaila as the Principal. Sr Cynthia Lasrado and Sr Smitanjali serve as teachers.
At present there are classes from Nursery to Class III. The students mostly come from the agricultural background and the daily labourers. Sisters take extra coaching classes for the students to cope with the studies.
