Since 1963, The Regional Engineering College (now known as National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra) has been one of the very first choice of engineering aspirants all over the country because of its rich research programs . It is a premier public engineering institution funded by government of India and accredited with the status of Institute of National Importance(INI).
ACEDEMICS & ADMISSIONS
The institution provides both Undergraduate(UG) and postgraduate(PG) courses in different streams of engineering. The UG(known as B.Tech mostly nowadays) programs are basically of four years now. The admissions in these courses are taken on the basis of the ranks achieved in the ALL INDIA ENGINEERING ENTRANCE EXAM (AIEEE) till 2012. From 2013, admissions will be done through the Indian Science Engineering Eligibility Test,and ranks will be given after considering 60% of the marks scored in the test, and 40% in the class 12 Board examinations. The Direct Admission of Students Abroad(DASA) Scheme works for the foreign students. For postgraduate programs, the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering(GATE) conducted by different IITs and NITs are taken into consideration.

CAMPUS
The campus is basically located in the city of Kurukshetra, Haryana, a place of great spiritual significance. Kurukshetra is a railway junction on the Delhi-Karnal-Ambala section of the Northern Railway. It is 160 km from Delhi and 90 km from Chandigarh. The institute campus is 10 km from Pipli, a road junction on the Sher Shah Suri Marg (NH-1) and 5 km from Kurukshetra Railway station. It is adjacent to the Kurukshetra University.
Being an NIT, there is no question of placement track. The institute has got a 100% placement track from years. Many IT giants and MNCs like Indian Oil, Jindal steel, TATA Steel, TATA Motors, SAP Labs etc regularly visit the campus for bright talented freshers.
