Tagore Arts College (TAC), Lawspet was established in 1996. It is the one of the government college for co-education in the region. The institute offers undergraduate courses in Arts, science and commerce. The college is well equipped with all modern facilities. A variety of teaching and learning techniques are employed to impart knowledge and skills to the students of the college. This college has different buildings and environment for each department. It has a vast area surrounded by lot of trees. The college is associated with experienced lecturers.

The College comes under the Pondicherry University, established in 1985 by the Government of India. The University is outstanding among the central universities in India. The University forayed into the field of distance education in the year 1995-96.Teaching and research are its primary functions as in other Central Universities. The University is fully supported by the University Grants Commission. The University is a member of the Association of Indian Universities and the Association of Commonwealth Universities

Tagore Arts College (TAC), a premier and legendary Institution in Pondicherry has produced numerous Graduates and Post-Graduates in various disciplines and most of them are well placed in various fields. Though they belong to the same College, many cannot come together for want of a proper forum.

To bridge this gap, Tagore Arts College Alumni Association (TACAA) was inaugurated on 11.10.2003.The purpose of TACAA is to gather the past students of TAC under one roof, so that they can get involved and contribute to the glory of their ALMA MATER and also inspire and motivate the present day students to accomplish better prospects.

TACAA provides the Tagorians a variety of ways to connect and interact with each other and with the current students of Tagore Arts College. Our goal is to offer multiple channels of communication and a wide array of meaningful volunteer roles for alumni.

The Executive Board of TACAA works closely to develop programs that will accomplish these goals. Through involvement in these programs every Tagorian can re-experience life at Tagore Arts College.
