1. Aadhaar must for bank accounts
· The Government of India, through a notification amending a prevention of money laundering act (PMLA) which has made it mandatory to
Provide Aadhaar and PAN( permanent account number) card to open bank account
· And to conduct a transaction of Rs.50,000 or more from june1
· Whether transaction as a single , multiple, or any international money transfer operation
· All existing account holder submit Aadhaar to bank by 31 December 2017,failing which accounts become invalid
· In case, a person does not have an Aadhaar card,then he has to provide proof of his Aadhaar application
Small accounts without valid KYC documents
· Maximum deposit is Rs. 50,000 and can be opened only at branches with core banking solutions
· and no foreign remittances to such accounts
· and balance to be closely monitored
About Aadhaar
Ø Aadhaar is a 12-digit unique identification number (UIN), which is issued to all Indian residents based on their biometric and demographic data
Ø Aadhaar is Issued by unique identification authority of India(UIDAI)
Ø UIDAI is statutory body established under the provision of the Aadhaar (Targeted delivery of financial and other subsidies, benefits and services) Act 2016( Aadhaar act 2016) on 12 july 2016 by the government of India under the Ministry of Electronics and information Technology
About PAN
Ø Permanent account number (PAN) is 10-digit alphanumeric number
Ø introduced by income tax department
Ø It is an important proof of identification,mostly to those who pay tax
Ø date first issued- 12 Jan 1964
About Core Banking Solutions (CBS)
Ø it is a centralized system ( networking of branches)
Ø which enables customers to operate their account and avail banking services
from any branch of the bank on CBS network
Ø the customer is no more the customers of branch

3. U.S issues Zika advisory for India
· Last month World health organization ( WHO) categorising India as a site of active transmission of the Zika virus
· The United States sent out an advisory informing its citizens in India about the number of confirmed Zika infection in India
· India as a Category-2 country for Zika risk,which is the second highest on 4 point scale
· The three cases of Zika virus were reported from Ahmedabad (Gujrat)
· The Zika virus is transmitted through the bite of an infected Aedes aegypti mosquito, which also transmitted dengu and chikungunya

4. Photosynthesis can save heart
· Stanford University scientists have found that using blue-green algae and light to trigger photosynthesis inside the heart could help treat cardiac disease in rats
· When exposed to light, photosynthesis bacteria(green) make oxygen that can keep rat heart cells (red) alive
