  1. Pakistan send back Indian envoy & terminated bilateral trade with India

Pakistan on wednesday send back the Indian High Commissioner and terminated its all bilateral trade agreements with india . The country has also marked 15 August as a black Day and decided not to celebrate 14th August as its Independence Day. Pakistani Government stated that the country will take Kashmir Issue to the U.N.

    2. RBI decided to cut repo rate to help reverse growth   slowdown

 

The Reserve Bank of India on Wednesday decided to reduce the key policy rate, the repo rate, by 35 basis points (bps) to 5.4% as it deals with monetary policy to combat the economic disbalances. 

Exam Takeaway :- Repo rate is also known  as repurchase option rate upon which RBI lends money to the commercial bank on short term basis i.e only upto 90 days.


3. Naveen Patnaik launched 22 new projects to enhance the “ Make in Odisha” initiative

To reach the state to new heights  Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched 22 new projects through video conferencing from the capital city on Wednesday. The projects involve total investment of ₹4,461.42 crore and are expected to generate employment opportunities for 9,451 people.

4. - President Ram Nath Kovind has given his assent to The Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India

AERA (Amendment) Bill- 2019 has been approved by the president of india. The bill increases the annual limit of passenger traffic for major airports from 15 lakh to over 35 lakh passengers. Earlier, the Airports Economic regulatory agency of Asian nation Act, 2008 outlined a significant landing field jointly with annual traveler traffic over fifteen hundred thousand, or the other airports as notified by

the central government.


5. China to boycott cinema awards in Taiwan

China’s national film board on Wednesday ordered to film directors and celebrities to boycott Asia’s top cinema awards in Taiwan, as relations between Beijing and Taiwan are not well.


6. India has contributed US $5 million to UNRWA .

India has contributed US$5 million to United Nations Relief and work agency for palestine Refugee in the Near East (UNRWA). The contribution  was provided in support of UNRWA’s core programmes and services, including education, health care, and relief and social services.

7. India celebrates 77th anniversary of Quit India Movement

The 77th anniversary also known ast Kranti Din, which is considered as an important milestones in the history of freedom struggle of our country, is celebrated  today.In 1942, Mahatma Gandhi gave a call to end the British rule and launched the Quit India Movement at the session of the All-India Congress Committee constituted in Mumbai. 


8. Serena williams tops Forbes list another time

Serena Williams has flat-top list of Forbes magazines’ the very best paid ladies in sports for the fourth consecutive year on Tuesday.

Williams has gained extra attention as Associate in Nursing African yank jock during a sport typically dominated by white players.Her 1999 singles victory at the U.S.Open created her solely the second Negroid ever to win a slam title; Gibson (1927–2003) was the primary.
