Grading of schools of Tamil Nadu

The government in Tamil Nadu is planning to grade all schools of Tamil Nadu of the scale of A to D on 10 parameters. Now parents will not need to worry about the selection of best schools for their children through the glittering advertisements and claims. It includes 10 parameters and these are pupil-teacher ratio, qualified teacher rating, teachers salary, play area, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, number and quality of library books, green environment and sophistication, inclusive education and transparency in functioning.
The whole procedure of grading would be done with help of data provided by the schools in the free determination questionnaire held in since 2009.
Greenery and Playgrounds on campus are going to be vital for schools as the government has embarked on a project for scaling the schools across the states on a scale of A to D.
Only the school situated on a campus with trees with grown branches providing good shade would be considered as a school with good environment. The government expects from schools to keep parents informed about their functioning and transparency in administration.
Sources in school education department said that the exercise would help the state to evaluate the impact of some of the parameters such as teacher training, class room environment, and promotion of community participation. According to the performance of schools in various parameter which has been defined they will be scale on a grade from A to D.
