Inauguration of “Ashiana Annexe”

Shri Pranab Mukherjee ( The President of India) will inaugurate the 'Ashiana Annexe’ in Dehradun, Uttarakhand on July 10, 2017.
-
Earlier in september 27, 2016, the president inaugurated the main restored and renovated building of 'Ashiana'.
-
The 'Ashiana' is situated on Rajpur Road of Dehradun and comprises of the main building, Annexe, Upper Stables and Lines and Lower Stables & Lines with associated roads and pathways.

In order to accommodate officers and staff of Rashtrapati Bhavan the Ashiana comprises of twelve low cost dwelling units.

The technology used in Ashiana for renovation is sustainable, cost effective, green and environment friendly with disaster resilient features.

The Treated water is safely discharged for irrigation and non-drinking usage enabling mitigation of disease risk and thus ensuring good health and wellbeing of residents.

The 'Ashiana' situated on Rajpur Road of Dehradun comprises of the main building, Annexe, Upper Stables & Lines and Lower Stables & Lines with associated roads and pathways.

Built originally as bungalow of the Commandant of the President's Bodyguard, it has been revived by the President after long years of disuse.
12th G20 Summit 2017

The 12th G20 Summit held in Hamburg, Germany on 7-8 July,2017.

It was agreed by the leaders to cease funding of the terror activities.
-
Prime Minister narendra Modi insisted a crackdown against countries that support terrorism for their own political goals.

It was also decided the in order to facilitate swift action there should be targeted exchange of information between intelligence, law enforcement and judicial authorities.

The G20 leaders promulgated the private sector including the communication firms to curb the misuse of the internet for terror propaganda.

Furthermore, the G20 leaders have also agreed to make sure terrorists are brought to justice.

To take strong measures against the terrorist organisation like ISIS/ISIL/Daesh, Al Qaida, it was decided by the Group of Twenty (G20) that all countries need to keep a check on terrorist group fundings.

G20 i.e Group of Twenty is a platform of 20 major economies of the world.

It comprises of government officials and central bank governors of 20 major economies.

Presidents attends the launch of Swayam, Swayam Prabha DTH Channels & National Academic Depository

Shri Pranab Mukherjee ( President of India ) attended the launch of SWAYAM, 32 SWAYAM Prabha DTH Channels and National Academic Depository which was venued at New Delhi in National Convention on Digital Initiatives.

The Convention was organized by Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
-
The president highlighted the spread of technology, telecom penetration and internet.
-
Digital technology enables good teachers to directly teach large number of students who are not able to physically present themselves in classes.
-
ICT solutions offer an interactive learning experience through which students in remote parts of the country can benefit from lectures of the top teachers.

The digital modes are cheaper, more easily accessible, interactive, and offer flexibility for people to learn at their own pace. We need to work together to ensure that they are widely adopted for teaching.
“JIGYASA” - Student-Scientist link programme launched

“JIGYASA” - which is a student-scientist joint programme was Launched by the Government in New Delhi.
-
This programme is a joint initiative of CSIR and KVS.
-
The programme comprises of 1151 Kendriya Vidyalayas which connect with 38 CSIR Laboratories and targets nearly one lakh students and approx 1000 teachers annually.

JIGYASA is launched with the motive to focus on connecting school students and scientists so as to extend student’s classroom learning with that of a very well planned research laboratory based learning.

On the Launch were present Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Minister of Science & Technology, Earth Sciences, Environment, Forests and Climate Change and Shri Prakash Javadekar, Minister of Human Resource Development.

JIGYASA is an instance of Scientific Social Responsibility (SSR). Also it is he connecting link between student’s practical and theoretical learning.

Some of the features of programmes are-Student Residential Programmes; Scientists as Teachers and Teachers as Scientists; Lab specific activities / Onsite Experiments; Visits of Scientists to Schools/Outreach Programmes, etc.
7th Slum Yuva Daud

The 7th Slum Yuva Daud was flagged off on 9th July, 2017 by Union Sports Ministry.

It was flagged in the presence of MP Ramesh Bidhuri and the ace olympic medallist Sakshi Malik.

The starting point was Tughlakabad Fort village and ended at Karni Singh Shooting Range.
-
More than 3000 youth from Delhi slums participated in the event.

Sakshi malik promoted the spirit of Sporting activities and promote healthy living.

The next daud which is 8th Slum Yuva Daud is scheduled on 15th july, 2017.
Ahmedabad declared as a World Heritage City

The Boston and manchester of India- Ahmedabad has been declared as a World Heritage City in the event at the 41st session of UNESCO's world heritage committee.

The venue of the event was Krakow in Poland.

The Nomination of Ahmedabad was backed by close to 20 countries, including Turkey, Lebanon, Tunisia, Portugal, Peru and Kazakhstan.

The city has essence of mahatma gandhi living from 1915 to 1930.

Now, Ahmedabad will be one of the 287 cities to join the world heritage cities like Paris, Cairo and Edinburgh.

After Bhaktpur in Nepal and Galle in Sri Lanka Ahmedabad is the 3rd Indian Subcontinent city to be chosen as the UNESCO world heritage city.

India -Bangladesh to build Bridge on Khawtlang Tuipui river

In order to boost Trade and Communication India and Bangladesh together have decided to construct a bridge over Mizoram’s Khawtlang Tuipui river (also known as Karnaphuli river).

This decision was taken by officials of both the countries at Tlabung town in Mamit district of Mizoram.

This bridge is expected to serve as an important link between India and Bangladesh.
-
Bangladesh shares the longest international boundary with India - about 4,096 km.
