    Within a PACS system one can distinguish six levels of integration (and one level of non-integration):

    * Level 1: API Level Integration
    * Level 2: Procedure-Call Integration
    * Level 3: Messaging Integration
    * Level 4: Integration Profiles
    * Level 5: Context Integration
    * Level 6: Physical Integration
    * (Level 7: No Integration)
